The place of birth gives specific rights and responsibilities. Expressing int the best possible way the good thing your town or city has can be really helpful. It is important to emphasize in this unit that a person's dignity and rights should be respected, no matter where they have been born.

Session 26, Period 1[editar | editar código]

Initial Phase[editar | editar código]

The place where we are born gives us rights and responsibilities. We should be able to tell what the best characteristics of our birthplace are.

Watch the video with your students. Notice that the first part has a soundtrack and the second is the same sequence with no sound.

Intermediate Phase[editar | editar código]

Have teams try to identify all the places in Guatemala that are shown on the video and write notes in their notebooks. Play the video several times to give students the opportunity to notice details. Team members complement each another’s knowledge.

Students should ask parents or guardians which are their favorite places in Guatemala.

Session 26, Period 2[editar | editar código]

Provide a few minutes for students to compare their answers from homework.

Intermediate Phase[editar | editar código]

Have your students write and individual essay describing their favorite place in Guatemala. It should explain why and describe an experience there. Topic sentence and support sentences must be included.

Have students organize teams for poster making in the following class. Each team will make a collage or poster of one of the places shown on the video. Assign a location to each one.

Practice the right pronunciation of the question “Where were you born?” Use choral repetition if necessary.

Intermediate Phase[editar | editar código]

Teams will prepare a poster or a collage of the place of Guatemala they have been assigned. Encourage the use of recycled paper. All students must participate. Provide the time and room to work.

Place the posters in appropriate locations in the class or in authorized places in the school.
