IntroductionEditar
Using a computer is increasingly common. However, if you do not have access to a computer in the classroom, you can substitute the content this unit for another one that fits your situation, like “how to repair a door knob”, or “how to change a light bulb”. The emphasis during of this session should be on the steps of a process.
Didactic resourcesEditar
- Dictionary
- Computers
- Notebooks
- YouTube
- Internet browsers
Session 34, Period 1Editar
Initial PhaseEditar
Tell students that when addressing issues with a computer it is necessary for them to distinguish between hardware and software. Frequently when there is a hardware problem, we need to have the computer repaired by a technician. But when it is a software problem usually we can do more.
Intermediate PhaseEditar
Show the following video.
Note that this video is about Microsoft© Windows. If you use a different operative system, feel free to look for and use another video.
Wrap upEditar
Students should ask parents or guardians when was the first time they saw a computer and record the answer. It does not have to be an exact date, just an approximation.
Session 34, Period 2Editar
Initial PhaseEditar
Provide a few minutes for students to compare their answers from homework.
Intermediate PhaseEditar
Have students try the software tools shown on the video. Ask them if they know any other tools.
Wrap upEditar
Have students capture a screen image on the computer used, and write their name and date as the filename. They should save it as proof of work.
Session 34, Period 3Editar
Initial PhaseEditar
Have students write in their notebooks the steps that they need to take to shut down a computer properly.
Intermediate PhaseEditar
Have students investigate on the internet what happens if you do not turn off a computer properly. Also ask them to investigate what the function of an antivirus is on a computer. Provide enough time.
Wrap upEditar
Ask students to write down two possible consequences of not shutting down a computer properly and two of not having an antivirus installed.
