This Learning Session has the purpose of familiarizing students with health, fitness and relaxing activities they can incorporate into their lives, focusing on specific vocabulary related to the topic.

Session 18, Period 1[editar | editar código]

Initial Phase[editar | editar código]

Tell your students that the topic to work with during this Learning Session is fitness and exercise.

Show them the following video or other that you see fit. Use no more than 5 minutes for this.

Students should write down in their notebooks the advantages of exercising.

Intermediate Phase[editar | editar código]

Have students share with members of their team what they think about exercise and how they could have physical activity in school.

Wrap up[editar | editar código]

At home, students should write a paragraph about sports of physical activities that can be considered hobbies and explain why.

Session 18, Period 2[editar | editar código]

Provide some time for students to compare their answers from homework.

Intermediate Phase[editar | editar código]

Organize students to investigate why exercising is important. You may wish to divide the class into teams. You decide the number of teams you need to have and what to assign each of them to investigate.

Reference the following video.

Explain to students that they will have to bring to the class articles from printed or web sources on advantages of exercising. These will be swapped among the groups in the next class. Remind students they must follow proper research procedures, naming the source and place of publication of the article and referring to its cultural background.

If no printer is available, they can present results of their investigation on recycled sheets of paper. They can also refer to their own experience, as well as their families’.

Session 18, Period 3[editar | editar código]

Give students a few minutes to prepare the material they will swap. Make sure you have prepared the logistics according to the size of your group.

Have students read the information given by the group they have swapped articles with. Have them prepare a summary on the information they have received.

Students should present the summary of their readings to the class and provide a copy to you.

Formative assessment

Use a rubric to provide feedback to the class presentations and papers handed in.

Sistema social para expresar ideas y manifestarlas al prójimo. Este sistema existe dentro de un entorno social (sistema social) y un sistema lingüístico (ejemplos son el español, francés, k’iche’, kaqchikel, etc.) Tienen que existir ambos sistemas para que pueda existir la comunicación.
