Coming up with an explanation in a situation is a skill a student must have. Stating an appropriate excuse might make all the difference in the world.

Initial Phase[editar | editar código]
Pose a generative question: When do we have to present an excuse?
Intermediate Phase[editar | editar código]
Role play with the help of students some situations where an excuse is needed. Provide some examples.
Wrap up[editar | editar código]
Each student will invent a situation where an excuse is needed.
Session 12, Period 2[editar | editar código]
Initial Phase[editar | editar código]
Explain to the students that some excuses are valid while others are not. Also, that some are true and other may be false.
Intermediate Phase[editar | editar código]
Have each pair of students prepare a situation where an excuse is needed, using their homework material and reaching agreements on which situations in everyday life will require an excuse.
Wrap up[editar | editar código]
Reach common ground with the students regarding when excuses are valid.
Session 12, Period 3[editar | editar código]
Initial Phase[editar | editar código]
Give students some time to prepare or give the finishing touches to their cases.
Intermediate Phase[editar | editar código]
Have students role play the situations they have prepared. The students who are not performing should be taking notes in their notebook.
Have some students at random tell the class what the best excuse they heard was.
Wrap up[editar | editar código]
Students should write in their notebook what they consider the best excuse heard during the roleplays and explain why.
