Session 33, Period 1Editar
Initial PhaseEditar
Explain conditionals to your students. Prepare yourself by watching this video or show it to your students if you consider them ready.
Intermediate PhaseEditar
Have students write 5 conditional sentences in their notebooks as instructed in the video. Provide explanations yourself if you decide not to play the video or it is not possible to show it in class.
Wrap upEditar
At home students should ask parents or guardians what utility bills they pay (such as water, electricity, etc).
Session 33, Period 2Editar
Initial PhaseEditar
Provide a few minutes for students to compare their answers from homework.
Intermediate PhaseEditar
Have students in teams write 10 conditional sentences. Provide examples if necessary:
- If you don’t eat vegetables, you will not be healthy.
- If we don’t hurry, we’ll miss the bus.
- It it’s sunny, we will take a walk.
Wrap upEditar
Ask volunteers to read some of the sentences developed.
Session 33, Period 3Editar
Initial PhaseEditar
Tell your students it is skit time. Give them 8 minutes to prepare a skit using the following structure:
- “ If ____ don’t __________, ________________________.
Students must use this at least twice in the skit. If you see they need more time add a couple of minutes to the time, but challenge them to stick to the time alloted.
Intermediate PhaseEditar
Write on the board a simple rubric to evaluate the skits. Have students copy it in their notebooks.
Have the teams perform the skits for the whole class.
Wrap upEditar
Have each student write two conditional sentences on a piece of paper and hand it in at the end of the class.
Review the conditional sentences and return them to students at the next class with feedback.
